Dr. Weber believes the cornerstone of any talk
is the personal connection established with the audience.
She is happy to tailor her presentation to the audience or occasion.

4“The Experience, Majesty and Future of Space”

“So what is space really like?”
Using humor, anecdotes, and footage from her missions,
Dr. Weber shares her very personal experiences
to bring the spectacular experience of space travel vividly to life:

• Every Astronaut’s worst fear (not what you think)
• What you think about strapped to millions of pounds of explosives
• One of the best parts: looking back at Earth

-The spectacular light show of the auroras
-The visible force that makes volcanoes and the Himalayas
-Sunrises every 90 minutes
-The one city that’s different than all the rest(!)
-Thunderstorms connected over thousands of miles
-Shooting stars hitting the glowing layer of the atmosphere;

5• Weightlessness: the most fun…AND most annoying part!
• The not-as-mundane-as-you-would-think parts…eating, sleeping, showering…
• Working in the spotlight; the good and the bad
• The human body in space
• Coming home from traveling 25 times the speed
of sound

Dr. Weber also provides an inside perspective on
events in our space program –  such as the Columbia tragedy, the creation and looming demise of the
“Vision for Space Exploration,” commercial vehicle development, and the end of the Shuttle era
– and how they will impact our future as a space-faring civiliz
ation.

3“To Boldly Go:  Managing High-Risk, High-Impact, Time-Critical Endeavors”
1

Aviation and space flight demand unparalleled team preparation
and good decisions in time-critical situations, to achieve success and
handle life-and-death crises.

Managing high-risk, high-impact, and time-critical operations in any field
presents the same types of challenges and considerations, and the same strategies can be highly effective.

Dr. Weber provides insight into the practices used in space travel and aviation
to mitigate risk and achieve success.
She explores events from the Columbia and Challenger tragedies, other space
mishaps, and aviation accidents to demonstrate crew and cockpit management,
the unique operational mindset at NASA, decision making in time-critical
situations, and how these practices can be applied to other fields.

Dr. Weber often presents abbreviated versions of these two programs together,
Including footage from her missions.
